Jurgen Klopp welcomes Naby Keita return as Liverpool fixtures pile up and offers Jordan Henderson update

Jurgen Klopp is unsure whether Naby Keita will feature in tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Red Star Belgrade, despite the midfielder proving fit enough to travel.

Liverpool have been without the services of their summer signing from RB Leipzig since he sustained a hamstring injury while representing Guinea during the last international break.

Keita’s inclusion in this morning’s 21-man travelling party appeared to suggest that he was in line to feature in the squad for Tuesday evening’s clash with Vladan Milojevic’s men.

However, that is far from certain, according to Klopp, who nevertheless expressed delight over his No.8’s return to fitness.

The German was also pleased to confirm that club captain Jordan Henderson is himself closing in on a return from hamstring trouble.

Asked about Keita’s prospects of making the squad, Klopp said: “I don’t know 100 per cent.

“He trained yesterday for the first time with the team but when we played the last game at Arsenal he was already at 100 per cent training only we were not there.

“I have to see, I have to make a decision tomorrow, not now. It’s very good to have him back for the upcoming weeks, it’s so important.

“Hendo is very close, I think he will train fully when we come back. That gives us a few more options and opportunities so that’s good.”
