Jurgen Klopp warns Liverpool's Premier League rivals they won't grow complacent

Jurgen Klopp has warned his Premier League rivals there is no chance of Liverpool showing any complacency in the title race.

And the manager believes even the biggest-ever lead at the head of the table at this stage of the season will not persuade his side to take their foot off the gas.

Liverpool are 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League, having already won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup this season to add to last term's Champions League triumph.

But Klopp said: “It is exactly as in normal life. If you have a little bit of success and you get carried away with it, you soon realise it is your last one.

“That is exactly what we have to do. We don’t get carried away for nothing, we’re completely focused on the next step.

"I never in my life wanted to have a party when there is no real reason. When there is a reason for a party I am 100 per cent in.

“I can say with full confidence there is no chance this team will ever be in a mood where we could forget the things we have to do. We have to do what we have done so far.

“That means thinking about the next game and nothing further forward and we have shown so far we are very, very good at doing that.”

Klopp has received some good news with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fit for Liverpool's visit to Tottenham on Saturday.

Fabinho could also rejoin the first-team squad, though he is unlikely to be risked. Joel Matip and Sheridan Shaqiri are also back in training and could travel to London.

After Saturday's game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Liverpool's next game is against Manchester United at Anfield on January 19.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are still the only team Liverpool have dropped points against in the Premier League, after the 1-1 draw between the rivals at Old Trafford in October.
