Jurgen Klopp 'wants to coach' Kylian Mbappe amid continued Liverpool transfer links

Jurgen Klopp wants to work with PSG star Kylian Mbappe having previously made an attempt to sign him, according to reports in Spain.

The Frenchman is one of the game's leading lights and continues to go from strength to strength in Paris.

But his future at the Parc des Princes is far from certain with Real Madrid long-term admirers.

Liverpool though are ready to fight Los Blancos for Mbappe's signature with Klopp having a direct line of communication with the player according to Sport.

Madrid are willing to offer Vinicius Jr as part of any deal, but there are still going to have to cough up north of £100m.

PSG will be reluctant to lose one of their prized assets and the finances involved make affording a deal unlikely as clubs count the costs of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mbappe though has previously been linked with a switch to Anfield after confessing his admiration for them.

"What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing," he said back in January when Klopp's side were still unbeaten.

"They're like a machine, they've found a rhythm and are like 'we play again, we play again'.

"They've lost zero games. When you watch you think everything's easy but that's not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.

"Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them

"So now they have to show they are strong again but it's a very good team with a very good manager."

Mbappe has reaffirmed his commitment to PSG and the club's project however as they chase European success.

He added: "Now I'm with PSG and I'm 100% with the club. I want to help the club grow this season, to win a lot of titles, so for me it's not good to talk about [my future].

"I think about the club because the club helped me. I came here at 18. I was a talent but I was not a superstar. Now I'm a superstar, thanks to PSG and the French national team."
