Jurgen Klopp has vowed to stay at Liverpool despite the club’s intent to join the controversial European Super League.
The German has previously insisted he is vehemently against the idea, with the Reds confirmed as one of the 12 leading European clubs who have committed to joining a new competition that will begin “as soon as is practicable”.
And Klopp reiterated his stance before Liverpool’s draw with Leeds at Elland Road, which leaves the champions is sixth in the battle for a top four finish.
But following the 1-1 draw, Klopp moved to calm any speculation that he could walk away from Anfield over the club’s decision.
Klopp said: “If I’m a problem I go, if I’m not I stay. I feel responsible for this club. I’m here as a football coach and a manager. I heard the situation that I would resign, if times get even tougher, it makes me more sticky that I stay here.
“It’s just like that, I feel responsible for the team, the club and the relationship with the fans. It’s a very tough time, I’m sure, but I will try to sort it somehow.”
Klopp admitted he heard about the news on Sunday during his preparation for Monday’s game.
“My feelings didn’t change. My opinion didn’t change,” Klopp said. “I heard for the first time about it yesterday. I was trying to prepare for a difficult game.
“We got some information, not a lot. Most of the things in the newspapers. It’s a tough one. People are not happy with it, I can understand it.
“I can’t say a lot more because we were not involved in the process - not the players, not me - we didn’t know about it. We will have to wait how it develops.”
