Liverpool have been told by one of their former players that Federico Chiesa is “perfect” for them.
The Reds have been tentatively linked with the Juventus forward, who starred for Italy at the summer’s European Championships.
Speculative reports over the summer claimed that Liverpool were plotting an £86m bid for Chiesa, despite currently being on loan at Juve from Fiorentina.
Chiesa was the star for the Serie A giants in the Champions League in midweek, scoring the winning goal in their group game against Chelsea.
Former Liverpool forward Joe Cole has urged Liverpool to sign Chiesa at their next opportunity, believing the Italian would be the “perfect player” for Jurgen Klopp and his system.
“It was an indifferent summer for Liverpool,” Cole told Coral, via the Metro .
“I was surprised they didn’t go out and bring in a superstar.
"Like what Sir Alex Ferguson used to do when they would win trophies.
"They’d go again and double down, they’d bring someone in who might sort of ruffle feathers.
“Someone like Chiesa is an absolute perfect player from Juventus for Liverpool, the way he plays.”
