Jurgen Klopp tips Chelsea for Premier League title as Blues open to offers for defensive duo

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Monday, December 7.

Blues open to offers for defensive duo - report

Chelsea will listen to any offers for central defensive pair Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori in the January transfer window, according to ESPN.

Both centre-backs were linked with a move away from the Blues over the summer - with Rudiger a target for numerous clubs, while Tomori was wanted by Everton.

However, they stayed and chose to fight for their places, but the form of Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma has meant limited first-team opportunities for the defenders.

Now, the report claims that Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers for either player when the January window opens in a few weeks' time.

Lampard told key decision that could cost Blues the title

Michael Owen has told Frank Lampard that if he continues to choose Olivier Giroud as his main striker, then it could cost Chelsea the Premier League title.

Giroud has been in impressive form recently, scoring four goals in the Champions League against Sevilla last week, before netting against Leeds United on Saturday evening.

However, Owen - when speaking on Premier League Productions - has had warned the Chelsea boss on the Giroud situation: "He was close to leaving a season or so ago because there was a World Cup at the end and all these reasons, he had to start playing. A lot of top managers haven’t started him consistently.

"It’s not to say he’s a bad player but we’re talking elite, elite, elite to win the Premier League. You need one of the best few in the world."

Klopp calls Blues favourites for title

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has named Chelsea as the favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

Klopp's side were dominant last season and secured their first league title in 30 years, but the early indications from this campaign are that it will be much more competitive this time around - something the Reds manager has clearly noted.

"If I watch football games at the moment then Chelsea, for me, look like favourites," Klopp told Sky Sports.

"They have the biggest squad, great players playing well together after a rusty start - and they are full on.

"They have unbelievable opportunities to change in games and make changes from one game to the other - so that is it."
