Jurgen Klopp takes swipe at Roman Abramovich and Chelsea after Frank Lampard sacking

Jurgen Klopp says Frank Lampard deserved more time at Chelsea and feels Blues owner Roman Abramovich should show more patience with his managers.

The Liverpool boss spoke out in support of Lampard after he was sacked by Chelsea on Monday, with Klopp's successor at Borussia Dortmund Thomas Tuchel appointed as his successor.

Klopp was questioned about Lampard at his press conference on Wednesday and said: "Two things, Lampard has lost his job, I have to say that is a tough one.

"I think Chelsea did an incredible job in the transfer market and it needed time. That's normal. It's really harsh to make the decision that early.

"Mr Abramovich gives chances but is not the most patient in the world. I feel for Frank, it is his club."

Klopp added that Tuchel is walking into a a privileged job given the players in Chelsea's squad, but he stopped short of giving his compatriot advice.

"Tuchel is great, I respect him a lot," he said.

"This Chelsea squad is a present, eh? I am pretty sure Thomas sees it that way. They will be good.

"I am not sure I need to give public advice. I don't have his English number."

Reflecting on Lampard being sacked after 18 months in the role, he added: "I was lucky with the clubs I was at.

"At Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool the same. I got the time because owners thought we did the right stuff and knew it takes time.

"How many coaches Chelsea had in 15 years? You are successful or you are out.

"I have nothing to do with that. Plenty of times I was lucky with my clubs.

"For Frank, everything will be fine. The football people saw it and say there's a clear plan. He's a young manager."
