Naby Keita starts in place of Thiago Alcantara for Liverpool as they meet Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Keita has started just one game this calendar year, the 1-0 home defeat to Fulham last month, but is named in the midfield three alongside Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum as Jurgen Klopp moves Roberto Firmino to the substitutes' bench.
The decision to select Keita from the start is a huge call from Jurgen Klopp given his relative lack of involvement for much of the campaign through injury.
Firmino's switch sees Diogo Jota come in for the Brazilian following his two-goal cameo as a second-half sub in the 3-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday evening.
Ozan Kabak and Nat Phillips are once again named in the back four as they aim to keep a fourth successive clean sheet in the Di Stefano Stadium at Madrid's Valdebebas training ground.
A strong-looking bench for the Reds also sees Klopp able to choose from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Xherdan Shaqiri, Curtis Jones and James Milner.
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Kabak, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Jota, Mane.
Subs: Adrian, H. Davies, Thiago, Milner, Firmino, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Tsimikas, Shaqiri, B. Davies, R. Williams, Cain.
Real Madrid: Courtois, Vazquez, Militao, Nacho, Mendy, Casemiro, Modric, Kroos, Asensio, Vinicius, Benzema.
