Jurgen Klopp should unleash wildcard move to improve Liverpool's midfield
Confused thinking is never a good thing for a manager, as Liverpool and their supporters know too well. As the Brendan Rodgers era unravelled towards the end of the 2014/15 season, the Reds’ manager was left making multiple formation changes a game in a search for answers to the team’s problems.
Jurgen Klopp certainly hasn’t reached that point yet but there have been some questionable decisions made recently. With the squad hamstrung by injuries, particularly in the frontline, some outside-the-box thinking was probably inevitable.

Even so, it was a surprise to see Thiago Alcantara start the 3-0 loss to Brighton as the team’s attacking midfielder in what may have been a 4-4-2 formation with a diamond midfield (it wasn’t easy to tell). Per WhoScored, the 31-year-old only had 13 career appearances in that position prior to last weekend, with the most recent of them back in 2017/18 with Bayern Munich.

N'Golo Kante makes Chelsea return after four month injury lay-off ahead of Liverpool clash
Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has been spotted back in training for the first time since suffering a serious hamstring injury in October, ruling him out of the World Cup.
Graham Potter's side take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime with both teams hugely underperforming in the Premier League this season.
Kante has been a key fixture in the Chelsea team since his move from Leicester in 2016, winning the Premier League and Champions League in his time at Stamford Bridge.
