Jurgen Klopp shares exciting verdict on RB Salzburg star and Leeds United fan Erling Haaland

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has offered his exciting verdict on RB Salzburg star Erling Haaland, who has strong connections with Leeds United.

The 19-year-old became the third-youngest player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League after hitting a treble against Genk two weeks ago and is now preparing for a trip to Anfield.

Son of former Leeds man Alf-Inge, Erling was born in the city and has previously revealed his dream is to win the Premier League with the Whites - which has left supporters keeping a close eye on his development.

With the Austrian side heading to England to face the defending champions of Europe on Wednesday night, it provides a further opportunity for Haaland to mark his place on the map again.

Thwarting Liverpool's stern defence will be a significant challenge for the teenager though and Klopp is well aware of the forward's talent, as he offered an exciting verdict ahead of the match.

“Norway has good footballers. He’s a wonderful player, very young, very confident, very quick, looks clear-minded on the pitch,” he told a press conference.

“He’s a proper threat. He looks like a decent player and he’s in the perfect place at the moment, I would say. It’s really important for a boy in that age group to play as often as possible at the highest possible level to prepare for the next challenges in life.

“That’s what he is doing at the moment. He’s not the only threat from Salzburg but he’s a proper one. So congratulations, the future of Norwegian football is safe.”
