Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed how he sent his players a 'long, long text message' after the 7-2 hiding at Aston Villa.
The Premier League champions were rocked by the club's heaviest loss since April 1963 when they were hammered at Villa Park in the final game before the international break.
After winning the opening three games of their title defence against Leeds United, Chelsea and Arsenal, the defeat means Liverpool go into Saturday's 237th Merseyside derby at Goodison three points behind league leaders Everton who have won all four of their opening PL games and have made their best start to a season since 1894.
And with all his players jetting off on international duty following the Villa game , Klopp has revealed how he got the frustrations of that dark night in Birmingham out of his system.
He told BBC Sport : "The night after the game was not the best night of my life but I got up in the morning and I knew I had to speak to my boys but they were not here.
"So I texted them a long, long message which was pretty much my thoughts about the things which had happened and after that I felt much better because then it was out and from that moment we could carry on and that's what we did.
"Now we are here and we have had enough time to deal with it.
"Losing a game is the exact opposite of what you want, losing it 7-2 makes it of course worse but sometimes we have to show that it can be useful.
"We have the chance to show that on Saturday lunchtime against Everton so that makes it really interesting because we face a team who is flying obviously and we got a proper knock.
"So now let's see who deals better with what."
Klopp remains unbeaten in Merseyside derby fixtures after 11 matches so far and will be hoping to extend that record when his side take on Carlo Ancelotti's Blues at Goodison on Saturday lunchtime.
