Jurgen Klopp sends message to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Liverpool FC thrash Manchester United

Jurgen Klopp admits he has sympathy with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after his Liverpool side thrashed Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Norwegian coach is under intense pressure at United after his worst performance in charge of the club and arguably the worst display witnessed in the eight years since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

United started the match on the front foot but would pay the price for Bruno Fernandes' costly miss in a one-on-one situation when Naby Keita gave Klopp's side the lead just moments later.

Dioga Jota capitalised on some abject defending to double Liverpool's lead before star striker Mohamed Salah netted a superb hat-trick to give his side an emphatic win away from home.

United's misery was compounded in the second-half when substitute Pogba was shown a straight red for a wild lunge on Keita as frustrations boiled over on an awful afternoon for Solskjaer.

Defeat means United have now only won once in their last five Premier League outings and after the match Klopp was asked if he sympathised with his counterpart after such a woeful performance.

"Of course [I have sympathy]," Klopp told reporters after the match. "The last thing I'd want to be is in his shoes in this moment.

"In the moments when you lose a derby you don't want to go and answer questions, so it's for sure not nice for him."
