Klopp dismisses Germany link
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled himself out of the running to be the next Germany national team coach.
Reports in his homeland have indicated Klopp is one of two leading contenders for the job after it was confirmed on Tuesday that Joachim Low would leave his position after 15 years in charge.
Klopp, who took over as Liverpool manager in October 2015, signed a contract 14 months ago that extended his Anfield commitment to the summer of 2024. And the Reds boss has signalled his intention to see out his deal with the Premier League champions.
"Am I available for the job of the national team in the summer? No," said Klopp. "After the summer, no.
"Jogi Low did an incredible job for so many years. One of the most successful. I understand he wants to have this highlight of a Euros and then someone else will do a job. There are lots of good German managers."
When asked later in the press conference about his comments, Klopp added: "I just said what I would say when they mention names like mine.
"I said no, this or after this summer, whatever it may be, I will not be available as a potential Germany team coach.
"I have three years left at Liverpool. It's a simple statement. You sign a contract and you try to stick to that contract, don't you?"
Wijnaldum contract latest
Gini Wijnaldum admits he would be "devastated" to leave Liverpool this summer as the midfielder outlined a desire to stay at Anfield.
The Dutchman is inside the final few months of a contract signed back in July 2016 and can walk away as a free agent this summer.
Wijnaldum was heavily linked to a cut-price move to Barcelona last summer following the arrival of Ronald Koeman, a manager who coached the Liverpool man with the Holland national side.
The Netherlands international can also speak to teams outside of England about a pre-contract deal and is no nearer to signing fresh terms with Liverpool, he says.
Despite the contract impasse, Wijnaldum has once again been one of Jurgen Klopp's most utilised players, featuring in 38 games for the Reds this term.
And the 30-year-old admits he and his family are happy on Merseyside, but said there is no update on his situation with the club.
"It would be really difficult (to leave) because if that happens, you will leave a team who you really love, who you have shared a lot of years together with and where you feel really comfortable," Wijnaldum said.
"It will be difficult but on the other side, you don't know the situation and why you have to leave, so it all depends on the situation.
"But I will be devastated that I am not going to play for this team anymore for sure."
