Jurgen Klopp sends clear message over Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino drought

Jurgen Klopp has dismissed concerns about Roberto Firmino’s goalscoring form after the Liverpool striker drew another Anfield blank in the Premier League.

Firmino has still not scored at home in the top-flight since March 2019 after failing to net in the 1-1 draw against Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

By contrast, the Brazilian has scored eight times on the road in the Premier League this term.

Firmino twice came close against the Clarets, having one goalbound shot blocked and later hitting the inside of the post before Burnley cleared.

And Klopp is confident the 28-year-old’s confidence isn’t being eroded by his ongoing frustration at Anfield.

The Reds boss said: “It cannot become a psychological problem because Bobby today played an outstanding game and we don’t judge him.

“We just don’t think about it. It’s not important who scores. We need Bobby for other things.

“We need Bobby in exactly the spaces where he was today. We need him in the link-up for other things – we only have chances in other positions because Bobby plays the way he plays.

“And he will score – there’s absolutely no doubt about it.

“We are not worried at all about that. He played an outstanding game today. He was involved in so many decisive situations.

“In the end, nobody scored apart from Robbo with a header which is pretty exceptional. It will not become a problem.”
