Jurgen Klopp sends Champions League warning to Liverpool players despite Porto win

Jurgen Klopp has warned his Liverpool players they still have to fight to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Roberto Firmino scored one and made one to put Liverpool in control against Porto heading into next Wednesday’s return.

But Klopp claims Porto will try to strike back at Liverpool in the hostile Estadio do Dragao.

“It’s all good, 2-0, but we still have to go there and fight,” said the Reds boss.

“Porto will try to strike back, it will be a really tough game, but that’s what you expect in the quarter-finals of Champions League.

“It’s half-time, there’s still a lot to do and now we must go there.

“The atmosphere will be really tough, but this was the result we wanted and we will work with it.

“It’s all good. A really good result. I would have taken it before the game and I take it now.”

Naby Keita opened the scoring with another deflected effort for his second Liverpool goal and Klopp was delighted with him and the Reds’ display, even though Porto had several chances.

“Naby looked really, really good,” he said. “He really worked hard and made a lot of good passes.

“It was a good game and we deserved the win. We scored two wonderful goals and had some wonderful situations.

“We controlled the game most of the time. We had a lot of good performances tonight and it was a really mature display. We kept the clean sheet, which was important. I liked the game.”
