Jurgen Klopp scoops Premier League award as Liverpool boss fends off Brendan Rodgers competition

Jurgen Klopp has been named the Premier League's Manager of the Year after guiding Liverpool to a first title in 30 years.

The Reds eventually clinching their first championship since 1990 by 18 points after dropping just 15 across the entirety of a memorable campaign at Anfield.

Klopp helped his side secure a record-equalling 32 wins in total as they ended their history-making campaign with 99 points from their 38 matches.

After Chelsea beat Manchester City 2-1 on June 25, the Reds were officially declared champions, wrapping up proceedings in a record-quick time of just 31 matches played.

Klopp's success across the term meant he was able to fend off competition from Chelsea's Frank Lampard, former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City and Chris Wilder of Sheffield United.

It completes a top-flight double for Liverpool after Trent Alexander-Arnold was named the Premier League's Young Player of the Year on Friday.

Klopp's award is his second individual honour of an unforgettable campaign at Anfield after he scooped the League Manager's Association version of the award last month.

The champions return to action on August 29 when they play Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley.

The Reds have reconvened for pre-season on Saturday as they get set to run through a truncated schedule ahead of the return of the Premier League on September 12.
