Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool title win is one of biggest stories in football history

Jurgen Klopp believes that when Liverpool get their hands on the Premier League trophy it will be one of the biggest stories in football history.

And the Reds manager is confident his side’s incredible success this season, in winning the title in record-breaking style, will be remembered forever as a truly remarkable achievement even when placed against the club’s illustrious past.

The champions will be presented with the trophy after their match at Anfield and Klopp says it will one of the greatest moments the famous old stadium will have witnessed, even without fans there to appreciate it.

“The moment when we get the trophy is 100 per cent what it’s all about in this wonderful sport. It’s one of the big stories in football history,” he said.

“It is truly special and we are lucky to be part of this, so we will savour it and rightly so. It’s just that it is a really big one.

“Not that other championships will be ever forgotten by the supporters, but this one, nobody will ever forget. It’s not possible. That is what makes this so special.”

When Jordan Henderson lifts the trophy on the Kop, with Kenny Dalglish, a link to the club’s glittering history, handing out the medals, it will be the culmination of five years of intensely hard work from Klopp and his team.

And he argued that any person in football, if they had a choice, would want to lift the title with Liverpool, after a painful, seemingly unending quest for the title.

“If somebody would have had the chance to decide, ‘OK, you can’t become a champion in any country this year and you can decide which team you can do it with – I think you want to have it very special,” he said.

“If you could make it make your choice, the choice would have been Liverpool FC, because it was the one which everybody wants to be part of and we are lucky enough to be part of this.”
