Jurgen Klopp's view on Bukayo Saka is clear as Arsenal starlet linked with Liverpool transfer

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly looking to rebuild his attack around the player he once dubbed as “exciting”.

The 20-year-old has continually impressed in a youthful Gunners side that currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.

The England international has five goals and four assists in 19 appearances so far this season, tallying up a goal involvement in nearly every other game he plays in the top flight.

It’s that form that has led him to become a regular under Mikel Arteta, playing alongside fellow youngsters Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah on a regular basis.

Saka’s rise to the top hasn’t gone unnoticed, though, with Premier League rivals Liverpool said to be keen on making a move for the wideman.

Speaking on Reach PLC's Transfer Window Podcast, Ian McGarry claims that Klopp is looking to build for the future and is planning a change in his attacking outlets.

He said: “We have reported on The Transfer Window Podcast that Liverpool are looking to the future with regards to the fact that they expect to sell at least two of their attacking players, [Bukayo] Saka is someone who is a player who suits Liverpool’s style.

"My understanding is that there have been talks with his representatives with regards to giving him a contract upgrade at Arsenal.

"Liverpool would provide the opportunity and platform for him to play and compete at the highest level. And that would certainly be something that I’m told he and his representatives are very interested in."

Any potential loss would impact Arteta greatly, who is now beginning to get the best out of his academy talent to get the Gunners competing at the top end.

As for Klopp, he has labelled Saka a “young and exciting” player, someone that fits the football his side try to play.

"You can see they brought a few new faces in; some found, obviously, their striking feet back," Klopp said ahead of the meeting last month. "And apart from that, young and exciting players as well with [Emile] Smith Rowe and [Bukayo] Saka and all these kinds of things."

With Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both reaching the heights, but have contracts that are dwindling, the Arsenal youngster may be seen as the future for their attacking trident.
