Jurgen Klopp's stance on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as Liverpool make transfer decision

Jurgen Klopp is said to be more than happy to keep Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer after Liverpool insisted they have no intentions of selling the player.

The 27-year-old had been touted for a surprise big-money move to Wolves following the arrival to Anfield of Thiago Alcantara, with Oxlade-Chamberlain's playing time potentially limited as a result.

The former Arsenal and Southampton man is desperate to break into Gareth Southgate's squad for next summer's delayed European Championships, but as reported by Mirror Sport.

Klopp is believed to still view him as an important part of his team, and is planning to play him regularly this season.

He was used in some of Liverpool's biggest games during the last campaign, both in their successful Premier League season and also in the Champions League.

In total Oxlade-Chamberlain made 30 appearances in the league, scoring four goals and creating one assist, and it is clear that Klopp has big faith in the player.

He also offers more goals from midfield than any other member of Klopp's side, with the player having netted eight times in all competitions last season.

With the fixtures coming thick and fast in the coming months, Oxlade-Chamberlain is likely to rotate with the likes of Thiago, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Naby Keita, and Liverpool certainly now have great strength in depth in the middle of the pitch.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was not involved in the Reds' 4-3 win over Leeds on the first day of the Premier League season after suffering an injury over the summer, and it remains to be seen if he is back for the crucial game against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

The player himself is thought to be happy to remain at Liverpool, and is desperate for more medals following their sensational 2019-20 campaign.
