Jurgen Klopp's panicked reaction to Virgil van Dijk's botched backpass vs Watford

Liverpool extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 17 matches as they beat Watford 2-0 at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah notched a brace, firstly curling in a stunner on the counter before making sure of the result with a cheeky flick.

But it wasn't without a couple of moments of panic for Klopp and the Reds in the second half.

Abdoulaye Doucoure, Ismaila Sarr and Gerard Deulofeu all scuffed chances to give rock-bottom Watford at least a point, but it was Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk who gave their manager the biggest heart attack.

In the latter stages of the second half, Gomez gave away possession to Troy Deeney, who attempted a through ball.

Dutch centre back van Dijk came across to cut the wayward pass off but in doing so sliced past his own keeper Alisson - who had bound out of goal.

The ball tip-toed towards the goal line and rolled just wide of the post, with Alisson diving desperately.

The Brazilian and van Dijk gave a guilty looking high-five after the event.

But it was Klopp who wore his emotion on his sleeve, as usual, with a hilarious reaction to the mix-up.

The German, who was in the process of taking a swing of a bottle of water, blew his cheeks out and shook his hand in worry.

Klopp added: "It was not the prettiest game but I am more than happy with that. At this stage you have to show resilience and I believe we did that today.

"We have so many games but we are happy with this. Watford had their chances but we scored ours. We could have made the game easier for us but it’s intense to be constantly in charge of the game.

"We have to defend with passion not organisation sometimes and that was sometimes now right."
