Jurgen Klopp's New Year request to Liverpool fans

Jurgen Klopp has revealed what his side need from Liverpool fans going into the new year.

The Reds currently sit 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and will be hoping to end their 30-year league title drought in 2020.

Liverpool will face Sheffield United on January 2, and speaking after his side's 1-0 win over Wolves the Club World Cup winning coach has urged his players need pushing.

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: "I'm really proud of them [the players] and I really hope our supporters are proud as well.

"How I said, the rest of the season, it's not the situation where it's 0-0 and people can get nervous. We will not be.

"These boys showed now so often that we just fight with all that we have – that's what we need from the crowd.

"I'm not sure which was the last home game before we played in Qatar, but I know that was kind of a nervous atmosphere. The boys really need pushing."

Before Liverpool jetted off to Doha they welcomed Watford to Anfield. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the first half but the Hornets rallied after the break.

The crowd grew anxious as the visitors peppered Alisson's goal before Salah settled the tie with a clever finish in the 90th minute.

Klopp continued: "The home games we have must be an advantage. We have no other advantage but at home it must be an advantage.

"Tonight was a fight, which we obviously fought together. At the end, we won it.

"It's hard, really hard, but nobody is moaning about that. We really don't look for excuses.

"These boys throw everything in what they have and that's what we try on the 2nd of January again."
