Jurgen Klopp's message to Liverpool players in dressing room after Barcelona defeat

Jurgen Klopp was proud of his Liverpool players for their performance in Barcelona despite their defeat.

The Reds have a mountain to climb to make the final of the Champions League after a 3-0 loss at the Nou Camp.

The scoreline flattered Barcelona but Liverpool had no answer for Lionel Messi as he added another two goals to his tally.

But despite the defeat, Klopp insists there were a lot of positives on show as he prepares his side for a trip to Newcastle this weekend.

“What did I say to them after the game? I said that I am really proud of them, that I liked a lot of things about the game,” he said.

Jurgen Klopp reveals the one thing that made him happy in Barcelona defeat

“I don’t have to think about the next game against Barcelona yet, we have Newcastle and that will have all of our focus. We will go to the hotel, have a proper sleep, get up in the morning and fly home.

“Whatever happens, these boys, I couldn’t be more proud of them. People who haven’t seen the game will see the result and say strange things about it, but they always strike back in these kind of games.

“How brave they are, I just like it. And in the end it is still 3-0, it will not change. So let’s fly home and play Newcastle.”

Klopp also insisted the display was Liverpool's best away from home in Europe during his time at Anfield.

“I will use it forever to show the boys what is possible. It was a brave performance, very passionate, very lively," he added.

“In a lot of moments creative, in a lot of moments direct, everyone was on their toes, I liked the game but it doesn't really help."
