Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool vs Arsenal prediction to Rhian Brewster before Anfield thriller

Jurgen Klopp said he was already excited at the prospect of Liverpool vs Arsenal being a thriller before the Carabao Cup fourth round tie kicked off on Wednesday night.

The Reds advanced to the quarter-finals in a penalty shootout after a remarkable 5-5 draw at Anfield in which they trailed 3-1 and 4-2, before equalising through Divock Origi deep into stoppage time.

Curtis Jones then scored the winner from the spot as the Reds triumphed 5-4 on penalties, with 20-year-old goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher saving from Arsenal's Dani Ceballos.

After the game, Klopp said that he'd already informed his forward Rhian Brewster - who impressed on what was his first senior Anfield appearance - that the game was going to be a good one.

“One hundred per cent, from the first to the last second," he said when asked if he enjoyed the game, via liverpoolfc.com.

"I’m not sure when I had last time so much fun in a football game, to be honest - I saw 19 goals!”

“Actually before the game I said to Rhian ‘I would buy a ticket for this game - thank God I don’t have to, but I would!’ because I was really excited about the opportunity we can give to the boys and I was happy with the game.

“Yes, we made mistakes and I saw now that we had 60-something per cent possession. The more possession you have and the lesser tuned you are, then the more often you lose the ball, but we were too open in the moments when we lost the ball, we were not prepared for the moments.

"So these were the three or four moments in the game which were not good because we lost balls in strange moments.

“All the rest was really, really good. How we created, how we passed, how we ran; there was so many good things tonight that I saw."

The Reds have been drawn to face Aston Villa away in the last eight.
