Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool transfer admission could affect Arsenal's transfer plans

Arsenal could have new competition for transfer targets after Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted he may be forced to look at free agents this summer.

The Reds had been linked with big names like Kylian Mbappe, Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner ahead of the summer window opening.

But a move for any of the trio now seems unlikely with Klopp opening up on why it will be difficult for his side to make big-money signings this summer.

"All clubs are losing money,” he said when asked about the upcoming transfer window.

The impact of Arsenal's lost match-day income

“How do I discuss with the players about things like salary waivers and on the other hand buy a player for £50-60m — we’d have to explain.

“If you want to take it seriously and run a normal business you depend on income.

“And we have no idea how much the club will earn — especially because we don’t know when we can start playing in front of spectators again.

“At the moment, without spectators, we have to pay back on season tickets and probably sell none next year.

“At least maybe the first 10 or 15 games. VIP areas won’t be packed and tickets won’t be sold.”

One player Klopp could now look at is Ryan Fraser, who is currently in the final year of his Bournemouth contract at the Vitality Stadium.

The winger was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium last summer before the Gunners smashed their transfer record to sign Nicolas Pepe from Lille.

And the rumours haven’t gone away linking the Scotland international with a move to north London this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur also thought to be interested.
