It may only be January, but the Premier League title race seems to be all but over.

Liverpool's long wait for a first Premier League title is looking increasingly likely to end this season, with the Reds now 16 points clear of second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand.

Jurgen Klopp's side have 16 games to play after their 2-0 win against Manchester United, with the Reds flying after winning the Champions League last season and following that up by lifting the European Super Cup and Club World Championship during the current campaign.

The Reds have won 21 of their 22 games so far this season and are unbeaten since January 2019 in the Premier League, while they have Arsenal's Invincibles record in their sights, with ten games to go to match what the Gunners achieved in 2004, having gone 49 games unbeaten in the top flight.

The impressive run of Arsene Wenger's side came to an end in October 2004, when Manchester United defeated them at Old Trafford.

But Liverpool could surpass that this season if they go unbeaten in their next 11 matches in the top flight, while they could match Arsenal's feat of going through a whole league campaign without defeat if they manage to make it through the next 16 games without losing.

Their impressive form has led to envy from some rival fans, while some supporters have described how they feel about the prospect of the Reds winning the title.

That has led to some fans giving Liverpool a new nickname on social media, which has been adopted by some Reds fans as they enjoy their march towards the league title.

Liverpool's next game in the top flight comes on Thursday when they travel to face Wolves at Molineux.

The Reds still have to play against some of their rivals between now and the end of the season, with trips to Everton and Manchester City, and home games against Arsenal and Chelsea towards the end of the campaign.

But even now, it is looking increasingly unlikely that any team will be able to catch the Reds at the summit.
