Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool promise which could be fantastic news for Arsenal and Man United

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking about Liverpool's crucial Champions League game against Red Bull Salzburg this evening.

And it will be music to the ears of Arsenal supporters.

It's the final round of group games in European football's elite club competitions this week and the defending champions aren't yet assured a place in the knockout rounds following a 1-1 draw with Napoli a fortnight ago.

Ljungberg on fixing Arsenal's defence

Destiny is in their own hands as they only need to avoid defeat against Red Bull Salzburg away from home and that will book their place in the last-16.

However, Erling Haaland raised the stakes last month.

The in-form striker, who has already scored against the Reds this season, has warned the Merseyside giants that his side fancy their chances of getting the result they need in order to qualify.

"They are the world’s best team," he told TV2 ," last month. "But we know we are good at home and if we are at our top level, we have a chance."

But Klopp has promised that his side are ready for the challenge.

"Everybody knows it's a final and we're prepared for that - Salzburg has to win against us," he told reporters.

"We are not a typical Champions League winner, we're still ambitious like crazy, we will go for everything and run for our lives.

"It's not that I expect us to go through, I expect us to play the best game we can play."

Should Salzburg beat Liverpool and Napoli avoid defeat at home to Genk then the Reds will be playing Europa League football after Christmas.

That would mean another Premier League team in the competition and another obstacle for the Gunners - as long as they avoid defear at Standard Liege - and Manchester United to overcome.

With that said, Klopp's promise that Liverpool will give everything to reach the Champions League round of 16 should be seen a big boost for the north London outfit as well as the Red Devils as that would be one less rival going for the Europa League.
