Jurgen Klopp's Leeds United fear echoes the warning Pep Guardiola was unable to heed

Jurgen Klopp knows just how tough a test his Liverpool side will face when they face Leeds United next Monday night.

The Reds snapped a six-match Anfield Premier League losing streak on Saturday with an injury-time winner against Aston Villa to boost their top-four hopes ahead of their upcoming Elland Road trip.

Before that, they host Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday, when they will be looking to overcome a 3-1 deficit.

Manchester City were also balancing European and Premier League commitments when they were stunned 2-1 by Marcelo Bielsa's side on Saturday, with Pep Guardiola's pre-match fear that Leeds would be the 'worst' opponents to face in this situation being realised.

Klopp, who's side could arrive at Elland Road sitting seventh in the table if results go against them over the next week, echoed this fear when he spoke after his side's win over Villa.

"Hopefully we’ve turned it around," he said in his post-match press conference.

"But we have tough opponents coming up with their own targets. We have Real Madrid, of course, but then in the league we play Leeds and I think everybody who saw them fighting today against Man City knows that it is not a walk in the park.

"It will be a tough one; I think they are leading in all physical stats in the league, so that means if you want to get something there you have to do a lot and that’s what we will do. For the moment, it feels great and that we turned the game around feels even better."

Leeds began their Premier League season at Anfield, with the two sides duking it out in a thrilling seven-goal thriller which saw the defending Premier League champions win the points.

Their stalling title defence means that they will be sitting just seven points ahead of newly promoted Leeds when they two sides meet on Monday evening.
