Jurgen Klopp's hilarious response to journalist after Jose Mourinho confusion

Jurgen Klopp was left speechless when he was asked whether he or Jose Mourinho had enjoyed the better playing career.

Liverpool travel to Moutinho's Tottenham in tonight's evening kick off with the Reds looking to extend their unbeaten run in the league to 38 games.

Spurs boss and old enemy Mourinho stands in the way of Liverpool building on their calendar year without defeat, though the 56-year-old's side only have one win in five matches.

Mourinho and Liverpool manager Klopp enjoyed relatively modest playing careers in their native countries before pursuing managerial roles and winning some of the biggest honours in football.

Portuguese Mourinho played as a midfielder for clubs such as Rio Ave and Belenenses, while Klopp made over 300 appearances as a striker and then a defender for Mainz 05, who he later managed for seven years.

Klopp has a reputation for entertaining journalists during his press conferences and, despite the magnitude of Liverpool's clash with Spurs, the 52-year-old was on typically jovial form as he spoke before the match.

Quizzed about whether he or Mourinho had enjoyed a better playing career, Klopp replied: "Does anyone know what position Mourinho played? Don't blame me if you don't know it.

"Does anybody know? I think he was a goalkeeper. I want to know now. Come on, Google it. We have time!"

Despite being told there was no time to find out where Mourinho played, Klopp insisted on knowing, saying: "I have time!"

After being informed that Mourinho played as a midfielder, Klopp explained why he thought his opposite number had played in goal, saying: "Sorry, Jose! He did play in goal in that charity game, though!"

Mourinho played as a goalkeeper in the Game4Grenfell charity match in 2017 to raise money for those affected by the Grenfell Tower Fire.

Klopp started his career as a striker but was later moved to defence and played out the rest of his time with Mainz as a right-back.

The German, despite this amusing distraction in his press conference, will be focused on taking Liverpool's league record to 20 wins from 21 matches this season.
