Jurgen Klopp's Erling Haaland to Liverpool transfer verdict with 'force of nature' claim

Jurgen Klopp has refused to rule out the possibility of Liverpool making a move for Erling Haaland, but admitted there will be a host of teams after the Dortmund star.

The Norwegian striker has been linked with a move to Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United this summer, but the Germans have been able to fend off interest with their £150m asking price.

Suitors seem like they would rather wait until a year from now when his release clause can be triggered which is believed to be around £65m.

Reports emerged on Saturday that it could even come into effect in January as teams jockey for position.

And don't rule out Liverpool either as Klopp responded to claims that the Reds could pursue a deal for Haaland.

The Anfield boss was full of praise for the goal machine as he called him a 'force of nature.'

He told German publication Bild : “There is of course a danger with such an extraordinary talent.

“The boy is a force of nature. When he celebrated a goal, he hit the ball on the ground, so I wasn't sure if there was a dent in the ground.

“Sooner or later he will be in discussion with large clubs. I don't know if that will be the case next year, but then Dortmund will have to counter it."

When asked about Liverpool's interest in Haaland, Klopp said: "I don't have his number!

"He's just a very interesting player. I really like the energy he brings to the pitch. But he would generally be watched by most of the teams."

He continued: "If a goal is scored at the back, something has already been done wrong at the front.

“He should also think about that in such situations. But he is still young and can still develop.”
