Jurgen Klopp's big-money commercial earnings on top of huge Liverpool salary

Jurgen Klopp cashed in on commercial deals to the tune of £6.7million last year as a lucrative source of extra income on top of his Liverpool salary.

The Reds' boss collects £16m a year from his wage packet at Anfield alone, but has boosted his personal earnings with a number of off-field ventures.

Having swiftly become one of the most recognisable sporting figures on the planet, Klopp has had no shortage of offers from companies looking to partner with him.

Among them have been chocolate bar makers Snickers, car manufacturers Opel, VR-Bank, financial consultants Deutsche Vermögensberatung, and TV service provider Sky.

His advisor, Marc Kosicke, said: "We decided that Jurgen stands for 'Made in Germany'.

"We've managed to ensure that it's all German companies he's promoting."

That is of course except for British-based Sky, for whom Kosicke and Klopp made allowances given they have long provided coverage of the German Bundesliga.

The total sum of Klopp's commercial dealings was totted up by a French football magazine, as cited by The Mail .

Their report claims Klopp has to reject many of the offers extended to him, and donates heavily to charitable causes.

Klopp has also been seen in UK TV adverts for German beer brewers Erdinger - the scenes of which were filmed in a pub on Penny Lane, Liverpool, made famous by a song by The Beatles.

It was only in September that Klopp signed with sportswear giant Adidas despite Liverpool's sponsorship agreement with rival company Nike, suggesting his commercial income is likely to grow further.

Adidas made Klopp an ambassador for their brand, and he has since been seen regularly sporting their footwear during training sessions and on the touchline.

Klopp had previously marketed New Balance products before Liverpool axed their collaboration to switch over to Nike.

But Kosicke was keen to stress: "It is important to us that people involved know that Jurgen is primarily a football coach."
