Jurgen Klopp's agent makes definitive statement on Liverpool future

Jurgen Klopp is "absolutely" staying at Liverpool regardless of whether his side qualify for next season's Champions League, the manager's agent has confirmed.

Klopp has overseen a dismal season at Anfield in which a deluge of injuries and a collapse in form left Liverpool's Premier League title defence in tatters.

The Reds were crowned champions of Europe less than two years ago but the seventh-place club now find themselves outsiders for a top-four finish.

Nonetheless, Klopp is under contract for three more years and his agent, Marc Kosicke, insists there is no chance the German walks away from his job this summer.

Kosicke was quizzed on his client's future plans by Sky Sport Germany and, when asked if Klopp would stay at Liverpool, said: "Absolutely! No discussion."

The representative was also asked whether there is a release clause in Klopp's contract but refused to answer questions on the topic.

Meanwhile, Klopp said he would be Liverpool manager for "as long as people let me" as he addressed speculation over his future during the European Super League debacle last month.

"I'm here as a football coach and a manager and I will do that as long as people let me do that. That's how it is," said the former Mainz and Borussia Dortmund boss.

"It's not the situation I have today that I will resign or whatever.

"When time's get even tougher that makes me more sticky that I stay here, so it's just like that.

"I feel responsible for the team, I feel responsible for the club and I feel responsible for the relationship we have with our fans - and that's why it's a very tough time I'm sure.

Liverpool return to action on Saturday against Southampton knowing nothing but three points will do as they bid to close the seven-point gap on the top four.

The Reds also have a game in hand on their rivals after their fixture with Manchester United on Sunday was postponed following fan protests at Old Trafford.
