Jurgen Klopp reveals unexpected fitness boost for Liverpool ahead of top four run-in

Diogo Jota has handed Liverpool a major fitness boost as Jurgen Klopp revealed he could return before the end of the season.

The Portuguese attacker's original prognosis was that he was ruled out for the Reds' remaining three games after picking up a foot injury in the 4-2 win over Manchester United.

Jota missed the 2-1 victory over West Brom on Sunday as a result, but Klopp confirmed a massive U-turn as scans showed the problem is not as bad as first feared.

The playmaker won't be available for Wednesday night's clash against Burnley but has a chance to make their final Premier League game of the season at home to Crystal Palace.

It's great news for Liverpool with Jota hopefully playing a part in their run-in as they look to seal a top-four finish and Champions League football for next season.

Jota now has a fighting chance to be fit for Portugal for this summer's European Championships.

Klopp explained: "The swelling went down and it looked better than first scan. So it's a tiny chance for the weekend.

"But good news for Portugal and Diogo for the Euros. We will see if it's good enough for us."

Klopp was convinced Jota was done for the season speaking to the media following Liverpool's win at Old Trafford.

He said: Diogo got, it's something with the bone.

"It's not too serious but serious enough to end the season. That's it.

"I think about these kinds of things after the season, it is what it is. Let's just hope we get through these last three games. It's tough, but I'm looking forward to it."
