Jurgen Klopp reveals truth about Liverpool's transfer links to Philippe Coutinho

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool will not try to re-sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona .

The Brazilian left Anfield for Barcelona in 2014 in a £140m deal but has endured a tricky spell at the Nou Camp.

There has been speculation that Liverpool would look to re-sign Coutinho this summer, with Jamie Carragher urging Klopp to make a move for his former No.10.

But Klopp isn't convinced and hopes Coutinho gets back to his best at the Nou Camp.

"In general, Phil Coutinho helps each team in the world, still, 100% but it's not about that," Klopp told ESPN FC.

"I like Phil, I think he's a fantastic footballer and all that stuff, but it would be a big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big-money signing and it's not our year for that.

"It's just not possible. As I said, having him would make each team better, us included, but I really hope that he finds his luck at Barcelona.

"Or maybe he found it there. We have contact, but not that close contact that I know exactly how he is doing, but the rest is only newspaper talk and stuff like that.

"If everything was true what newspapers write about me, wow! If it's similar to what they write about me, I would say he's completely happy at Barcelona and wants to sign a new six-year contract or whatever."

Coutinho has also been linked with PSG this summer as a potential makeweight in a deal to take Neymar back to the Nou Camp.

But the Brazilian expects to stay with Barcelona with his agent maintaining he has a key role to play under Ernesto Valverde.
