Jurgen Klopp reveals surprise Roberto Firmino message after Liverpool win at Tottenham

Jurgen Klopp has revealed the surprise message given to him by Roberto Firmino after the striker proved Liverpool's matchwinner.

Firmino struck the only goal to earn the Reds a on Saturday evening.

The Brazilian had earlier seen one shot cleared off the line and came close with another effort after the break before Liverpool withstood a strong revival from the home side to move .

Klopp embraced Firmino after the final whistle with the Reds having extended their unbeaten league run to 38 games.

And the Reds boss said: “When I went to him to give him a hug after the game, he said to me 'I know I should have scored more goals'.

“That's absolutely not what I wanted to say!

“But he should have. The first chance was brilliant play but he somehow hits the player.

“A super player, not the first time I've said that and hopefully not the last. Pretty impressive.”

Liverpool's win came on their first visit to Tottenham Hotspur's impressive new stadium.

And Klopp was happy with one aspect of the ground in particular.

“This stadium is something else, I must say,” he added. “Thank you very much for whoever built it, the away dressing room is probably the best in the league.

“Other clubs when they renovate make the away dressing rooms smaller. It should not be like this. This stadium is exceptional.”
