Jurgen Klopp reveals how Joe Gomez has reacted in Liverpool training return

Joe Gomez is like a kid at Christmas now he's back in training.

That was the gleeful message from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as he insisted the England defender can still play a big role on the title run-in.

Gomez will likely miss Sunday's showdown with Spurs, but his manager believes a painful near four month injury nightmare will make him stronger on his return for charge towards glory.

“Yesterday Joe Gomez was like Christmas, birthday, everything in his face. You could see it, brilliant,” Klopp said.

“When there are setbacks you are like; 'Come on, there will be better times' but the boys have to go through a lot of darker days pretty much alone with their families and friends.

“You cannot change it. There is no alternative to rehab.”

Klopp also insisted that rejuvenated Adam Lallana will also play a key role in the seven games which will shape Liverpool's title destiny.

“A player with the ability and skills of Adam Lallana is a pure joy to watch when the fitness level is increasing and he is back on the pitch. It is clicking for him again.

Jurgen Klopp reveals Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain "mistake" as star continues recovery

“His attitude was always incredible so why should I doubt him? Only the football world outside make a player old too early. I don't think like that.

“Adam is in a wonderful age group and when he is fit he is a fantastic player. That is the only thing I was waiting for. You can only appreciate it when he is back and he showed that against Burnley .”
