Jurgen Klopp reveals how he reacted to Jesse Lingard's horror miss vs Man City

Jurgen Klopp admits he didn't expect much from Manchester United after they were beaten by Manchester City .

Liverpool were hoping their bitter rivals United could do them a favour by beating the Citizens, which would put the Reds in the driving seat to win the Premier League this season.

But Manchester United rolled over against the superior City at Old Trafford and were comfortably beaten 2-0 with goals coming from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane.

The Red Devils had very few opportunities to do anything against Pep Guardiola's side and failed to muster a single shot on target in the first 45 minutes.

United's best opportunity fell to Jesse Lingard moments after Silva had put Man City ahead with a powerful effort.

If Lingard had found the back of the net with the effort he wasted it could have turned the match on its head.

But Klopp has ruled out that the potential goal would have had any impact on the final score saying United are currently incapable of hurting City.

Klopp said: "It was not the last chance before the game. Why should it be the last chance after the game?

"If anybody really thought that United, in the moment, are capable of hurting City – City are just too good for that."
