Jurgen Klopp reveals his 'respect' for Newcastle United ahead of crunch clash for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp says he has respect for Newcastle United ahead of the Premier League showdown on Tyneside this weekend.

The Reds have to win to keep up their hopes of pipping Manchester City to the title, but with just two games left many feel that Pep Guardiola's team are in a strong position.

Klopp insists he does not have to lift his players after the 3-0 defeat in Barcelona at the Nou Camp but must forget all about the Champions League for the visit to the North-East.

He said: "Our problem is finding a way to beat Newcastle.

"We respect them so much.

"We want to go there and play the game.

"Whatever happens, it’s already been a special season.

"I don’t think about it, it’s because you constantly ask me about it!

"You don’t know about our difficulties because we don’t speak about it.

"But our boys deliver and deliver and deliver.

"Still two games to go.

"We’ll get through them then look back and see."

Speaking about the mood of his squad, Klopp said: "We didn't need to pick players up in Barcelona and give them a hug.

"It's in us.

"If you want to win in football you have to accept that you can lose.

"I had more positive thoughts about the game than negative cos of what we did on the pitch."

When asked his views on Newcastle as a side, Klopp said: "A tough one.

"They are in a very good moment.

"They have won quite a few games in recent weeks and are in a comfortable situation.

"They changed formation after they played us."
