Jurgen Klopp reveals details of Pep Guardiola phone call after Liverpool FC win Champions League

Jurgen Klopp revealed Pep Guardiola called him after Liverpool clinched the Champions League in Madrid.

Liverpool, who missed out on the Premier League title by a point to City, beat Tottenham 2-0 on Saturday night thanks to a Mohamed Salah penalty and a second-half Divock Origi goal.

Following Liverpool's win Klopp revealed details of a phone conversation with the City boss and also joked about head physio Lee Nobes moving from the Etihad to Anfield at the start of the season.

“A second ago I had Pep Guardiola on the phone,” Klopp said.

“Our head physio [Lee Nobes] worked for Man City at the beginning of the season, but he wanted to win the Champions... no, it’s a joke.

“And we promised each other already that we will kick [each other’s] butts next year again. We will go for everything and let’s see if we get something.”

Liverpool took the title race with City to the wire this season with the Blues emerging victorious on the final day of the campaign with a 4-1 win over Brighton.

Guardiola was full of praise for City's rivals throughout the campaign and said back in April that both teams deserved the title.

"It's in our hands. It's incredible what we have done so far. Both Liverpool and us deserve the title. The team that loses should not have regret," Guardiola said.
