Jurgen Klopp repeats Premier League claim about Liverpool FC and Man City

Jurgen Klopp has been amazed by Manchester City for the second time in as many weeks.

Liverpool are closing in on their first league title in 30 years with just a handful of points needed from their remaining eight matches to mathematically clinch the title.

However, Klopp is keen to ensure his players get over the line as quick as possible and spoke after Pep Guardiola's side had beaten Arsenal 3-0 about the strength of the reigning champions.

"When I saw Manchester City beat Arsenal, I asked how is it possible we have 22 more points than them?’" he told reporters ahead of the Merseyside derby.

Everton held the league leaders to a goalless draw on Sunday evening, allowing Guardiola's runners-up-in-waiting to close the gap with a 5-0 thrashing of Burnley and drawing more praise from Klopp for another strong performance from the Blues since the restart.

"The only thing I realised from watching the game last night was how is it possible any team is 20 points ahead of that team?" he said on Tuesday. "We must have done something right."

If Liverpool beat Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, City must win at Stamford Bridge the following night to prevent their rivals from being crowned champions before the teams meet in their next fixture next Thursday.

Klopp's side remain on course to break the 100-point record set in the 2017/18 campaign by Guardiola's side, but victory for the Blues in their encounter would make that task harder as well as making a statement of their intentions for next season.
