Jurgen Klopp refuses to rule out Thiago and Fabinho for Liverpool v Leicester

Jordan Henderson has joined Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah on the sidelines for Liverpool's clash against Leicester City on Sunday.

But Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara will be given every chance for the visit of the Premier League leaders.

Henderson will miss out having suffered a groin problem that forced him off during half-time of England's UEFA Nations League defeat in Belgium last Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold is still recovering from a calf injury while Salah is ruled out after a positive coronavirus test while on international duty with Egypt.

And when asked for an update on availability for this weekend, Klopp said: "Hendo not, Trent not, that is clear. All the rest we will see."

Fabinho has been absent since limping out of the Champions League win over FC Midtjylland more than three weeks ago with a hamstring problem, but was pictured in training on Thursday at Kirkby.

Thiago, meanwhile, suffered a knee injury when caught by a red-card challenge from Everton forward Richarlison on October 17.

"In a good way," said Klopp of the duo, who also saw Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the training pitch kicking a ball having been missing this season with a knee problem.

"Ox in a good way. They are all closer, but we will see who is close enough for the weekend."

With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez also sidelined, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams will compete for a role at centre-back alongside Joel Matip should Fabinho not recover in time.

Neco Williams and James Milner are options to deputise for Alexander-Arnold at right-back, although Henderson's absence means Milner may be needed in midfield.

Klopp also offered an update on Gomez, who is facing a battle to play again this season after suffering a serious knee injury with England last week.

"The surgery was successful and now he's recovering from the surgery and starting his rehab," said the Reds boss.

"He is with his family so is in the best possible place.

"We help as much as we can but for any boys who have surgery the first few days you are alone but he has his family around him."
