Jurgen Klopp believes the latest young star to break into his first team has the x-factor which will allow him to become a top star.
But before too much pressure is piled onto 19 year old Tyler Morton’s shoulders, the Liverpool manager attempted to pour just a little cold water on the raging fire of expectation he has ignited.
Merseyside-born Morton was a revelation in the San Siro, outperforming an AC Milan midfield boasting full Italy, Spain and Ivory Coast internationals in Sandro Tonali, Brahim Diaz, and Franck Kessie.
And Klopp conceded: “It was a big pleasure to watch the boy playing in the San Siro - and the football knowledge, the football brain he showed was absolutely exceptional.
“And If you are technically on that level – and he is, obviously – and you then have such good orientation, then sometimes you have enough time for doing good stuff.
"That was what he did in a game like this. On top of that, he defended incredibly well, together with the other boys.”
Klopp knows an inevitable hype will follow such a mature performance from a young player who is still to finish growing into his frame.
He is used to dealing with the emergence of young stars, as his handling of Trent Alexander-Arnold has displayed perfectly, and he will carefully introduce the Wallasey born player into his squad.
“I don’t want to make his life more complicated than it is already with playing at such a young age for a club like Liverpool in a game like this with a performance like this,
“So I think we should all calm down. He was really good (against Milan) and overall the midfield performance was really special on a big stage.
“He has everything in his tool box, but he’s a smart kid and he knows what he has to do to progress.”
