Jurgen Klopp provides injury update on Thiago after Liverpool midfielder misses Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp has revealed new signing Thiago Alcantara will miss Liverpool's next two fixtures.

The £25million signing made his debut in the Premier League win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, earning plenty of plaudits for his performance.

The Liverpool boss had hinted that the Spain international was in line to make his debut against Arsenal on Monday night.

However, news emerged over the weekend that Thiago had missed a number of training sessions in the build up to the clash with the Gunners with an unspecified issue.

Those reports proved to be true with the former Bayern Munich left out of Klopp’s squad for the 3-1 win at Anfield.

Klopp admitted he would miss the Premier League clash against Aston Villa, as well as sitting out of the Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal.

“After the international break, he will be fine,” he told Sky Sports.

“For sure and that’s the situation at the moment, he isn’t fit enough to be available tonight and that’s it.”

Following the international break, it’s all eyes on Everton and the Merseyside derby, currently scheduled for October 17.

Both clubs have got off to a perfect start, with Liverpool’s third goal against Arsenal seeing them leapfrog their local rivals.

Liverpool put in a dominant display to pick up their third win on the spin, coming from behind in the win over Mikel Arteta’s side.

An Andy Robertson error gifted the visitors the opening goal, but they bounced back to equalise just minutes later through Sadio Mane.

And then before the break, Robertson made amends for his mistake converting a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross.

The game was then wrapped up in the closing stages when Diogo Jota netted his first goal for the club on his Premier League debut.

Jota arrived the day after Thiago and followed his lead with an impressive first showing in a red shirt.
