Jurgen Klopp provides injury update on Liverpool trio with good news for Sadio Mane

Liverpool have been handed a boost after Jurgen Klopp declared that Sadio Mane is fit for this weekend's crunch Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Mane was a major doubt after picking up a rib injury on international duty with Senegal during the two-week break.

But Klopp has eased fears over his availability, with Mane set to play against the Gunners on Saturday evening.

And the Reds boss also revealed that both Jordan Henderson and Andrew Robertson are available to feature against Mikel Arteta's side; despite fears they would also miss out with injury niggles.

"Sadio is fine – painful but fine," Klopp told the Liverpool official website. "Everybody who had a rib bruise knows it's an annoying thing. But Sad trained here with us now in all sessions.

"We took him out a little bit earlier here and there when we knew now it will be full contact, stuff like this, just to give it a bit more time to settle. But he looks fine."

Arsenal are unbeaten in eight league games, so having Mane available to negotiate such a tricky game could make all the difference to the Reds, who are bidding to bounce back from their disappointing 3-2 loss against West Ham.

Mane has been a key performer for Klopp's side this term after netting eight goals in just 15 games.

Both Henderson and Robertson also picked up issues on international duty, but like Mane, have been passed fit by Klopp.

"Robbo was lucky, we can probably say," the Reds boss added. "It was a little bit DOMS, the intensity of all the games he played probably, rather than anything else.

"He was smart enough to (make) the right decision, he went off early, which he usually is not doing. But in this case it was absolutely right, and so there's a good chance that he can be involved at the weekend.

"Hendo, a little bit more (injured) than Robbo but a chance for the weekend. So we are working on that.

"It's not a serious injury but in this short period of time we have to see if he is ready for Saturday. But after that, 100 per cent, and possibly for Arsenal as well."

Having good news on the injury front is a welcome change for a Liverpool side that have been ravaged again with injuries this season.

Last year, an unprecedented injury crisis in defence left the Reds with next to no chance of defending their Premier League crown.

Although their defensive crisis has eased, Klopp has seen his midfield options decimated by injury this year.

Naby Keita, James Milner and Curtis Jones are all still sidelined and set to miss the Arsenal game.

In recent weeks, Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho have also had their injury issues; although both have since recovered and featured in the loss at West Ham just before the international break.

Harvey Elliott, who suffered a sickening ankle injury earlier in the season, remains a long-term absentee but was pictured stepping up his recovery this week by participating in some light outdoor work.
