Jurgen Klopp has paid tribute to Manchester United great Sir Alex Ferguson and Liverpool legends Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan and Sir Kenny Dalglish after winning the League Managers' Association award.
Liverpool won their first league title in 30 years this past season and Klopp has been recognised with the award named after former United boss Ferguson.
The Scotsman was on Sky Sports News to reveal that the German had won, even detailing a brilliant anecdote that Klopp called him in the early hours to tell him that Liverpool had won the league.
Klopp admitted his delight at winning the award named after Ferguson and also paid tribute to the key personnel at Liverpool.
Klopp said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be named the winner of the League Managers Association Manager of the Year Award for this wonderful Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy, named after a man that I admire so much. It feels extra special to win this award because it is voted for by my fellow managers.
“It’s an honour to be in the company of so many managers who have been named as LMA Manager of the Year before, including of course Liverpool managers like Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, Sir Kenny Dalglish and, in recent years, Brendan Rodgers.
