Liverpool flexed their muscles at Anfield on Saturday.
After wins over Norwich and Southampton it was the Reds' first game against a fellow top six side.
And they came through with flying colours against an Arsenal side who do not like playing Liverpool.
The home side showed their quality throughout and displayed the gulf in class between the two sides gunning for a top four finish, or in Liverpool's case, the title.
Joel Matip and two goals from Mohamed Salah secured the win, with Lucas Torreira coming off the bench and scoring late on, what turned out to be only a consolation.
But before the two went head-to-head at Anfield, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp paid the Gunners a huge compliment.
Speaking in his programme notes, the Liverpool manager said: "I think this current Arsenal team might just be the best yet [that I’ve faced], in terms of quality, and for that reason I think today pitches two of Europe’s best against each other.
"I think there is zero doubt Arsenal will be even stronger this season, they have recruited amazing talent this summer."
That recruitment included David Luiz, who was responsible for two of the Liverpool goals on the day, and Nicolas Pepe, who was a club record signing at £72million and showed what he is capable of on the day.
And Klopp says you write off Arsenal this season at your peril.
He added: "It's a complete nonsense if you don't view this Arsenal, with this manager, as being one of the best teams in the country."
