Jurgen Klopp opens up on 'really low point' for Liverpool as new problem emerges

Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool are at "a really low point" as he pinpointed the crippling confidence problem afflicting his goal-shy side.

The Reds have fallen six points behind leaders Manchester United after their 68-game unbeaten home league record was ended with a dreadful 1-0 defeat to Burnley on Thursday.

It was the fourth successive league game in which the top-flight's leading scorers have failed to net - their worst such run since May 2000.

And Klopp accepts lack of self-belief has become a significant issue as he dismissed suggestions of tiredness from his players.

"I don't have a better word than frustrated," he said. "That's what I feel.

"It's not possible to lose the game, but we made even that happen. That's a really low point, now, I have to say.

"In football the quality of the players is important, there is no doubt about that. But confidence is important as well.

"After trying it 90 times and scoring only one goal, it's not good for confidence. We have to stay in a specific way and do it better and more often.

"We have no physical problem. We've had more days off than we have in the last few years. That's not our problem."

Liverpool have a huge week on the horizon with an FA Cup fourth round tie at Old Trafford on Sunday followed by Premier League trips to Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

And Klopp acknowledges his team's barren run won't last forever.

"It's not written in stone that we will now always play like this," he said, speaking to liverpoolfc.com. "We can change that. We will work on it.

"Nobody has forgotten what the boys did (in previous seasons), but we don't live in the past.

"We will work on the right things and hope it can work out against Manchester United, then Tottenham and West Ham.

"It's tough but that's okay. I'm ready."
