Jurgen Klopp on 'unbelievable' Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Liverpool return

Jurgen Klopp joked Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain had been missing so long that Liverpool didn't know what to call him on the teamsheet.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made his long-awaited return to the matchday squad after being name among the substitutes for Friday's Premier League showdown with Huddersfield Town at Anfield.

The 25-year-old has been absent since suffering a serious knee injury in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma almost exactly 12 months ago.

And Klopp has expressed his delight at the midfielder being back among the first-team fold.

“(It’s) unbelievable,” said the Reds boss.

“We had to think about when we wrote the names on the teamsheet today how we call him. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, there are a lot of options obviously – Alex, Ox, Chambo, whatever! It’s that long ago.

“It’s really nice, it’s really good news that he’s back.

“He has been back for a while and now today back in the squad, so it’s cool – really cool.”
