Jurgen Klopp offers James Milner injury update as Liverpool options set to strengthen

Jurgen Klopp believes James Milner will be available for selection ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Norwich City on Friday night.

The veteran midfielder missed Sunday’s Community Shield match with Manchester City because of a muscle strain.

However, the Reds boss is optimistic Milner will resume full training by Tuesday at the latest.

And he is expected to be ready to face the Canaries at Anfield on the opening day of the new domestic season.

Klopp was asked if the former England international would be available and said: “I would say yes.

“It was a minor muscle injury. I would say he can probably train tomorrow, although I am not 100 per cent sure.

“For today it did not work out, but I think by at least Tuesday he can train.”

Manchester City won the match at Wembley 5-4 on penalties after goals in normal time from Raheem Sterling and Joel Matip.
