Jurgen Klopp offers full update on Liverpool's injury list ahead of facing Atalanta

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Mohamed Salah will return for Liverpool's Champions League tie at home to Atalanta, but he looks set to be the only player the Reds can remove from their lengthy injury list.

Salah missed Sunday's 3-0 victory over Leicester at Anfield as he remained in isolation following two positive coronavirus tests recorded on international duty with Egypt.

The forward flew to Merseyside last week to prepare for his return to action, and Klopp confirmed that he had recorded a negative test following the Leicester victory.

Salah was pictured in training at the club's new AXA Training Centre on Monday, and he will now form part of the squad to take on the Serie A outfit at Anfield.

"Mo trained yesterday and looked really good," said Klopp at his press conference on Tuesday. "All the tests were negative so he's available if nothing changes."

With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez sidelined with long-term injuries, and the likes of Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago Alcantara, Xherdan Shaqiri, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also out, Klopp was asked if any more players will be able to feature, however that looks doubtful.

"All the rest, no news," he added.

"One looks closer, the other not so, that is the situation. I don't want to speak too much about it."

The absences of some of those injured players has allowed youngster Curtis Jones to get some game-time in midfield, and Klopp is delighted with his form.

"Very, very positive," he said.

"Not too surprised. He's an exceptional talent.

"The best thing is that his personal development is even more impressive than his sports development. He made the next step.

"I'm pleased for him and it is good for us as well."
