Jurgen Klopp names the Tottenham player who had 'a proper game' against Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga after his display against the Reds at Anfield this afternoon (Sunday).

The Argentine put in a superb performance in the game at Anfield, frustrating the Premier League leaders with a string of fine saves as Tottenham came close to picking up a point at the home of the Reds.

But a rare goal at Anfield from Jordan Henderson and a penalty from Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool to victory, with Klopp's side turning things around after Harry Kane had stunned the leaders with a goal inside the first minute of the game.

But Klopp insisted that he was happy with his side's performance as he praised Gazzaniga for his efforts in the Tottenham goal.

"I am really happy with the game, really happy," Klopp told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Even conceding in the first minute, the boys were really there and they were good with the counter attacks, they were incredibly good.

"Alisson, without making a save, made the save, because he was so big and Son [Heung-min] had a really difficult angle.

"But apart from those two moments, it was a sensational game and we were completely spot on, we played good football, we played direct in the right moments and played in between, we crossed the ball and had so many good moments in the box.

"Never ever have I seen anyone being frustrated because we were missing chances, or because the Tottenham goalkeeper, what a game he had."

Klopp was then asked if that was the game of Gazzaniga's life, with the Liverpool boss adding: "Maybe he is young enough to have one or two more, but that was a proper game.

"You can get frustrated in situations like this, being 1-0 down and the goalkeeper always being there, it can be tricky.

"But ok, and it was a situation of pure will to finish it off."
